Valerie-June Button is the military spouse of a U.S. Public Health Service active duty service member and the daughter of Air Force veterans. Valerie-June grew up in the Hudson Valley area of New York and graduated from Dutchess Community College with dual associates degrees in liberal arts humanities and sciences and completed her bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology at SUNY, New Paltz. Her interest in understanding and maximizing human potential led her to the International Center for Creative Studies at Buffalo State College where she is currently finishing a Master’s degree of Science in creative problem solving and change Leadership.
Valerie-June heard about the work of the Dog Tag Fellowship Program via The Mission Continues newsletter. The work that the Dog Tag Bakery Fellowship provides for the military population fits with what Ms. Button wants to do with her career.
Through the Dog Tag Fellowship Program, Valerie-June hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the facets, workings and vocabulary of entrepreneurship so that she may implement a coaching component for entrepreneurs as they build creative, healthy, human-centered, sustainable organizations that ensure positive human growth.
Valerie-June’s favorite baked good is glazed croissants.
