Thelma C. Brown was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised in Queens, New York and Alexandria, Louisiana. She was commissioned in the ROTC program at Northwestern State University, where she earned her B.S. in Business Administration.

Thelma is a retired Lieutenant Colonel with over 25 years of military service in the United States Army. Her military responsibilities consisted of Company Commander, Brigade Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Officer, Human Resource Officer, and G-1 Executive Officer, where she culminated her military career.

Thelma also served as a peer mentor for Melwood Veteran Services and the Wounded Warrior Project, mentoring female veterans living with PTSD, TBI, and Military Sexual Trauma. Her hobbies consist of walking, kayaking, cooking, and reading.

Thelma found out about the Dog Tag Fellowship Program through her Battle Buddy and Dog Tag Alumna Erinn Roth. She decided to apply so she can expand her knowledge about running a small business and establish a nonprofit organization.

Thelma’s favorite baked good is pecan pie and lemon bars from Ms. Jo’s Petite Sweets (Erinn Roth’s catering business).
