Terry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in May 1996, from MEPS in Tampa, Florida. During his matriculation there, he received many awards and acclamations that included two Navy and Marine Corps achievement medals and a meritorious promotion to the rank of Sergeant.
After 10 years of service, Terry completed his enlisted time honorably in the Marine Corps. Soon after, Terry took on a new challenge and joined the United States Army where he was immediately deployed to Iraq in support of OEF/OIF from 2003-2005. During his time in combat, Terry became the Aviation Battle Captain for 3rd Army (CCFLC). On this assignment, he was responsible for every aviation asset that entered and exited the designated combat zone. Additionally, he saw over 2000 combat sorties and was later awarded the Army Achievement Medal for his bravery and valor during combat. Upon completion, Terry was offered an Officer assignment in the United States Army as an Commissioned Aviation Officer and assigned to fly the UH-60 Blackhawk, leading to him becoming a commercial instrument rated pilot and rated in four different aircraft.
In 2013, Terry transitioned out of the military honorably and became a career and technical education (CTE) teacher, providing curriculum design and delivery as well as honing his skills as an instructor in the areas of aviation, mechatronic and skilled crafts trades. Terry earned a teaching certification in four distinct areas while helping consistently contribute to his classes overall 98% pass rate on licensing exams.
Terry has been honored to be granted the opportunity of Dog Tag, where he had been waiting for over five years before he was able to apply. Terry realizes that this program will help change his life by aiding in his development and pathway exploration for a future career, including owning and operating his own real estate firm.
