Her Son's Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free Apple Pie

Syahidah Osman is a South East Asian artist. Her childhood was spent in rural Singapore, where she later attended the oldest girl’s school in the Far East. She attended college in the United Kingdom, and soon after had three wonderful boys.

She met her second husband, an Army Engineer and Special Forces officer, in Kuala Lumpur. They have since lived in Kansas and Okinawa where they welcomed a fourth son. Their family is now finally settled in Virginia. While working on Fort Belvoir, she by chance read an article featuring the Dog Tag Fellowship Program in Georgetown.

Syahidah was drawn to learning the nitty gritty of running a small business because she wants to fine tune her art business by bettering her marketing strategies as well as the administrative side of her business.

Human condition has always been at the forefront of her artwork ‘s sentiment. Her last exhibition focused on the struggles of juggling motherhood, erratic work demands, and her studio practice. She is working on a series of projects that highlight the Uyghur’s people’s plight. It is her friend’s turmoil and stories that motivate her to create an awareness of the atrocities in Xinjiang.

Her favorite baked dish is her son’s gluten and dairy-free apple pie!
