Marine Spouse

Nitasha Wiegman

Nitasha Wiegman is the spouse of an active-duty Marine and the dog mom of five English Cream miniature dachshunds.

She grew up in Kharkov, Ukraine, and after completing degrees in Russian and Secondary Education began working with deaf and orphaned children in her hometown. Galvanized by the Russian invasion of Crimea 2014, she relocated to the US to study emergency medicine with the goal of helping vulnerable populations. She completed degrees in Emergency Medicine and Surgical Technology, and began working in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, specializing in heart and lung transplants for children.

In addition to her passion for her tiny patients, Nitasha is also an avid entrepreneur. With her husband’s encouragement, she developed a successful boutique pet business centered around her lifelong love of the dachshund breed.

When not in surgery or chasing puppies, Nitasha loves supporting her fellow Marine spouse community. She is a budding leader with a passion for helping others succeed, and currently serves as Vice President of the Marine Officers’ Spouses’ Club of DC. During her time with the Dog Tag Fellowship, she hopes to further develop her business skills and looks forward to learning from her cohort classmates.

Her favorite baked treat? Tort Napoleon! – a Ukrainian pastry of creamy mille-feuille custard layers.
