Air Force Spouse

Nerissa Alford

Class

Winter 2024

Nerissa Alford is an Air Force military spouse of 20+ years. She grew up in Florida and graduated from Florida State University. Go Noles! Nerissa first found out about Dog Tag from an IVMF Entrepreneurship Forum. The timing was perfect, as her husband has been preparing to retire from active duty and her kids are in college. Several OCONUS assignments kept Nerissa from pursing her passion of starting a small business with her mixed media art and photography. Living and visiting so many places in the Middle East, Asia and Europe inspired Nerissa’s art practice further. She is looking forward to working with her cohort classmates, learning from the Georgetown teachers and Dog Tag alumni and finally realizing her dream of starting her business.

Nerissa has enjoyed many baked goods throughout her travels so it was hard to pick a favorite. If she could eat a dampfnudeln every day, she would be in bread heaven. NOTE: Not sure if this is technically a baked good. It’s a steamed yeast dumpling I used to get at my local bakery at Ramstein. I also loved a good schnittlauchbrezel. It’s a fresh pretzel cut in half and filled with butter and chives. Now I need to propose a trip to Germany for our cohort to research baked goods there!
