Army Veteran

Michael Matthews

Michael Matthews is a army veteran, and a graduate student study architecture design at the Catholic University of America. When he’s not enjoying energetic evenings at the playground with his daughter Luna, he’s remotely completing architectural drawings, and various other tasks relative to the scope of work.

Michael was born and raised in Baltimore MD. At the age of 22 years old, Michael decided to enlist in the United States Army in 1998. After completing initial entry training, he would serve as an automotive mechanic. His first assigment was with the 10th Mountaina Division’ Fort Drum, NY, and this is where he would be stationed majority of his military career. While assigned to 10th Mountain Division, Michael deployed to Iraq twice, Afghanistan once, and Bosnia once. Michael’s assignments also includes, overseas to Honduras, and Korea; the Army Ordnance Schools and Center located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, and Fort Gregg Adams.

Michael’s professional and academic achievements includes becoming a Non-commissioned Office in the army, earning an associate of applied science (AAS) degree in carpentry learning rough and advanced framing from Montmery College in Rockville, MD. A Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture (BS) from the Catholic University of America

In 2017 while I was assigned to the WTB at Walter Reed, Wounded Warrior Mentor Lee Miller talked with me about DogTag, and Anne Barlieb expressed nothing less than positive vibes about Dog Tag numerous occasions. Also, I think the website also did a pretty good job at capturing my interest.

A new and rewarding experience, meet people, engage and interact, learn skills to use in the real world. He enjoys Chocolate Chip Cookies.
