Homemade Sweet Potato Pie

Marilyn Woods graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, earning a Juris Doctorate as well as an ethics-based Masters of Business Administration. Marilyn also attended the University of Texas San Antonio, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.

Marilyn is a United States Army veteran, who has deployed to Iraq to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a culinary specialist, she was assigned to a military police unit and assisted in guarding military installations, looking after enemy prisoners of war, providing convoy escorts as well as preparing and serving large-scale meals.

Marilyn learned about the Dog Tag Fellowship Program through the Wounded Warrior Project. After seeing an opportunity to participate and support fellow veterans, she applied to the fellowship program. As a fellow, Marilyn looks forward to gaining better communication skills, more confidence, being more self-accountable as well as exploring ways to assist the veteran community.

Her favorite baked good is delicious homemade sweet potato pie.
