Army Spouse/Caregiver

Lauren Smith

Lauren Smith is originally from Houston, Texas, but now resides in the growing town of Liberty Hill, Texas, just north of Austin. She earned a B.A. in Photography from Sam Houston State University where she minored in Entrepreneurship. She has also spent time in the photography industry as well as teaching both in the public and private schools in Texas. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, working with dogs, volunteering, and woodworking.

Lauren is spouse and caregiver to her Army-veteran husband. They have been married for 20 years and have two children.

During her time as an active-duty spouse, Lauren volunteered in various roles with the Family Readiness Group and the Battalion Care Team during overseas deployments. She became an advocate and caregiver for her husband after several combat deployments.

When she learned about the Dog Tag Program, Lauren was instantly drawn to the prospect of participating in a program designed specifically to help focus on wellness while growing stronger in the business world. She is most looking forward to learning from others, networking opportunities, and strengthening her voice.

Her favorite baked good is a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie.
