LaKeshia Whitehurst

LaKeshia is from Chesapeake, Virginia. She enlisted in the US Army as a Communications Specialist and later became a Finance Specialist. She was stationed in Washington, Texas, Germany, and Hawaii. LaKeshia separated after 10 years of service.

Since separating, LaKeshia has worked as a Budget Technician for the Department of Defense, a Member Service Specialist for United Services Automobile Association (USAA), and an Accounting Technician for a public housing authority.

LaKeshia’s passions include baking, crafting, and helping others find happiness. She has performed stand-up comedy and improv and has also written a children’s picture book. She has been married to her wonderfully supportive husband for 17 years.

LaKeshia learned about the Dog Tag Fellowship Program while taking classes with the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP). Her goal is to create a nonprofit organization along with her husband, teaching young men life skills in order to have more opportunities in life, along with an appreciation for the arts.

Being that she is a baker, she enjoys most baked goods. However, if she had to pick just one it would have to be vanilla cupcakes. . . or cheesecake. . . or pineapple upside down cake. Basically, if it ends in cake, she’ll probably eat it.
