Jason Farley was born in Chicago, IL but spent his childhood in France, first near Paris, and later in a small village near the Mediterranean, before returning to the United States and joining the Marines in 2001.
Jason served as a crew-chief, in the now retired CH-46E helicopter, completing one deployment in Iraq, and as Marine Security Guard in U.S. Embassies to the United Arab Emirates, Croatia, and The Ivory Coast before honorably separating in 2008 as a Sergeant. In the following years Jason would try his hand at many things and acquire a taste for learning. From culinary arts to criminal justice, through woodworking as well as other crafts, and raising a family, he discovered an entrepreneurial spirit, which led him to seek out knowledge.
It is this seeking which led him to Dog Tag and to apply to the fellowship. He hopes to hone his business acumen and learn to channel his drive into skills to reach his goals to be his own boss.
Jason’s favorite pastry is a rich, sweet and savory Breton treat called Kouign-Amann. It is made of thin layers of bread dough, lots of sweet butter, sugar and salt.
