Jared Lenahan is from South Amboy, New Jersey. He joined the United States Navy in June 2009 as an FMF Navy Corpsman. After working in the field for three years at Camp Pendleton's Scout Sniper School and Basic Reconnaissance Course, he volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan on Provincial Reconstruction Team Uruzgan as a Combat Medic, Combat Cameraman, and Public Affairs Officer. He then reported to Naval Hospital Sigonella and was selected as a Team Leader on a Multi-Service Ward. He was also a member of the Command Color Guard and an Assistant Command Fitness Leader.
After a sixty-foot fall while rock climbing, 2.5 years in an electric wheelchair, five different external fixator placements, and countless surgeries, Jared came back to make it onto the USA Paraclimbing Team in 2018 and 2019 and represents for the US as one of the world’s best adaptive climbers. He is now ready to give back to his communities by opening a climbing gym for adaptive athletes and/or wounded warriors.
Jared hopes to gain the entrepreneurial skills and experience to successfully run his gym while also learning how to step out of his comfort zone.
His favorite baked goods are snickerdoodle cookies!
