Dominique Raymond was born on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois where she lived until the age of 17. As a junior in high school, she met a Marine Corps recruiter who encouraged her to enlist. Determined to join, though underage, she asked her mother to give consent; within a year, she became a Marine.
Dominique served eight years as a Food Service Specialist, undertaking roles such as Cook on Watch, Storeroom Manager, and Subsistence Chief; all the while maintaining the training and standards required of her military service. Given a strong desire to find her true calling, she decided to transition from the Marine Corps.
After years of exploration, she discovered a love for writing, teaching, and creating ways to enhance her fellow community members’ quality of life. After expressing her vision to a friend, she was told about the Dog Tag Fellowship Program, which sparked a new level of ambition. From the fellowship program, Dominique hopes to gain the knowledge to shape her aspirations into an experience that people of all ages can benefit from.
Her favorite baked goods are powdered donuts!
