Military Spouse

Marta Mejia

Marta Mejia was born in Hialeah, Florida, and is the proud daughter and granddaughter of Spanish-Cuban immigrants. From an early age, she witnessed the resilience, determination, and sacrifices her family made to create greater opportunities for her and her siblings. Driven by that example, Marta worked her way through school and earned certifications in Health Administration and Management. She later married her husband, a retired U.S. Marine who was honorably discharged after his military service. Together, they are approaching their 25th wedding anniversary and are the proud parents of three children—two sons and a daughter. With her sons nearing college graduation and her daughter now in high school, Marta has embraced her lifelong entrepreneurial aspirations. Encouraged by her family, she began exploring opportunities designed for military spouses and discovered the Dog Tag program. Recognizing it as the ideal environment to develop her skills and vision, she eagerly applied. Marta looks forward to gaining the knowledge, foundation, and network needed to achieve her entrepreneurial goals. She is excited to learn from experienced mentors and connect with a supportive community that will help guide her journey. Her favorite desserts are her Aunt Mirta’s arroz con leche and her mother Marta’s flan.
