Carolyn Olson was born and raised in Iowa, where she learned the work ethic of her father, a merchant marine and career employee at John Deere. She earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Northern Iowa and a masters of public administration from the University of Oklahoma.
After receiving her commission as an Army Transportation Officer, Carolyn spent over 30 years moving the Joint Force via rail, road and sea, sustaining the warfighter, and developing strategy and foreign policy. She is a veteran of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Just Cause. Carolyn is also an Army spouse. She met her husband, Peter, at ROTC Advance Camp where they were assigned as battle buddies. They married 29 years later.
Carolyn has shaken up her Etch-a-Sketch and is ready to explore where she can contribute to the world with a clean slate and a wide-open aperture. She views the Dog Tag Fellowship as a place to be curious, explore without boundaries, make a plan and write her next chapter with intention.
Carolyn’s favorite baked good is her father-in-law’s Gooey Butter Cake—something that shouldn't reasonably exist and yet is still somehow perfect on its own merits.
