Favorite Baked Goods

Granola with Nuts and Fruit

Brooke was born in New Rochelle, New York, and raised in Millwood, New York and Arlington, Massachusetts. She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Connecticut College, and her Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota.

Brooke met her Coast Guard husband in Washington, DC twenty-two years ago. Her career in Federal service shifted to the nonprofit sector after assignments took them out of the DC area.  However, it was through volunteer work in communities along the East Coast that Brooke discovered her love of teaching English as a Second Language. Once her children were school-age, she returned to school to earn a Masters in Education (TESOL). She has been teaching classrooms of adult language learners ever since.

Brooke would love to start a wholesome baked goods business with the aim of growing it into a social enterprise cafe that develops the culinary talents and job readiness of underemployed immigrant women. Through the Dog Tag Fellowship, she hopes to gain the practical business knowledge needed to launch and operate a sustainable enterprise that becomes an agent of positive social change.

A huge breakfast fan, Brooke’s favorite baked good is granola loaded with nuts and fruit.
