Blake Kent

Blake Kent grew up on a ranch outside the small town of Columbus, Texas, and now lives in Bethesda, Maryland. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Baylor University and later completed a Master’s in International Relations through Troy University. An Army Veteran, Blake attended the Defense Information School (DINFOS) at Fort Meade, Maryland, where he specialized in Print Journalism and Public Relations as part of his Army training, and went on to serve as a Public Relations Specialist, gaining experience in communication and media strategy, as well as international development supporting independent media in Mosul, Iraq. His military background shaped his commitment to service, adaptability in diverse environments, and focus on community development.

Blake comes to Dog Tag through a recommendation from a friend, drawn by the program’s unique approach, blending classroom, practical experience, community development, and wellbeing. He hopes to use this time to explore entrepreneurial ways to build community and support community cohesion and prosperity in a rapidly changing world.

Outside of professional pursuits, Blake enjoys exploring global cultures, a passion reflected in his favorite baked good: chicken samsa, a savory pastry he first encountered as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan.
