Adela Wilson

Adela Wilson is an Air Force spouse, caregiver, and mom of three who was born in New Jersey and grew up in Florida. She met her husband Rob in 2001; they married just weeks after their courtship began, before Rob deployed to the Middle East. Once he returned from deployment their adventure began, with a move to England where both their boys Jordan and Sean were born. After Rob’s medical discharge in 2007, the family relocated back to the United States and settled in Virginia.

Adela applied to the Dog Tag Fellowship Program in her quest to better equip herself to face the challenges of being a single parent and re-entering the workforce. Through connections she formed in the Dog Tag Fellowship Program, Adela relaunched her professional career and secured a position working for Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) as a Warriors to Work Specialist. In this position, she assists with all aspects of WWP’s Warriors to Work program and is responsible for providing career guidance to veterans as they seek meaningful career opportunities outside of the military.

Adela feels privileged to coach, mentor, and assist those who served our country, and their families, along their career journey. Adela loves that she is also able to give back to the Dog Tag community through her role. She has hosted Dog Tag recruitment events for WWP warriors and family support members, and led Learning Labs for Dog Tag Fellows. She continues to be connected with and give back to her fellow alumni, including helping another DTI alum secure employment as a contractor with WWP. Adela was a speaker at Dog Tag’s inaugural Alumni Summit in November 2019, presenting on “Another Voice Found: Finding Your Purpose/Gaining Confidence”––an extension of the fellowship “Finding Your Voice” component where she shared her story, words of wisdom, and the newfound confidence she gained through the fellowship with her fellow alumni. She is elated to introduce those on her caseload to the Dog Tag family, the fellowship program, and the incredible journey towards finding purpose and community.
