Etienne E. Forbes was born (with a twin brother!) in Columbia, MD to a family from the US & British Virgin Islands. Before enlisting in the US Navy in 2011, he worked in many organizations, including UPS, Target, Timberland, Verizon, and completed 1 year of studies at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.

Etienne was honorably discharged in 2015, after working as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate, Base Security at Naval Station Norfolk and completing his A.A. in Liberal Arts from Saint Leo’s University. Post military, he earned a BA in Psychology from The City College of New York, the late General Colin Powell’s alma mater. Mr. Powell established the Colin Powell Fellowship in Leadership and Public Service, a 2-year program for undergraduate students interested in careers in government, nonprofit organizations, and other forms of public service for which Etienne was selected to join. The experience inspired him to pursue a career in Inclusion & Diversity. In 2018, Etienne was awarded a US Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research and attain his MSc in Culture, Organization, and Management abroad in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

As a Dog Tag Fellow, Etienne looks forward to learning how to incorporate Well-Being into his daily routine, building powerful communities, and gaining the skills required to assist those from minority and disadvantaged communities.

Etienne loves a LOT of desserts, but his favorite is his Aunt Maureen’s Zucchini Bread.
