Ambre Ste Marie
Ambre knew from a young age that she wanted to be a chef. She especially loves baking bread and breakfast pastries, which is what drew her to the role of baker. She contends that there’s nothing like the smell of fresh bread baking!
Ambre grew up in New Hampshire, graduating from the New England Culinary Institute (NECI) in Montpelier, VT, with an associate degree in baking and pastry. Her career first took her to The Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she learned how to make the best buttermilk biscuits and monkey bread. She then moved to Florida, where she worked action stations at the Ritz Carlton and helped test recipes for a new restaurant, Lightkeepers. Her executive chef praised the food scene in DC so highly, she decided to transfer, where she started at the Ritz before beginning her favorite job thus far here at Dog Tag Bakery!
She was drawn to Dog Tag Bakery as she was impressed by the mission and fellowship program that gives veterans, military spouses and caregivers the tools to move forward in civilian life. In her role, she is in charge of baking bread and pastries, and helps out with making other delicacies like cakes and sandwiches where needed.
During her off time, Ambre enjoys planning game nights, brunch with friends, and spending time with her dog Gus. She also enjoys knitting and other arts and crafts, and is a huge baseball fan!
Her favorite baked good is anything chocolate peanut butter flavored!
