DOG TAG INC. FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Applications for our Winter 2019 Fellowship are now open!
About the Fellowship Program
Dog Tag Inc. (DTI) empowers service-disabled veterans, military spouses, and caregivers to discover personal and professional fulfillment in the civilian world through an innovative business and entrepreneurship fellowship.
Our five month program enables Fellows to dip their toe back into education, gain first-hand experience in a real small business, explore a wide-variety of civilian career paths, and acquire soft skills through professional workshops. Upon completion of their fellowship, DTI alumni are business ready, competitive, and employable.
Fellows earn a Certificate in Business Administration from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies. The curriculum consists of seven courses that are tailored to the small business-focused goals of our fellows. Courses include accounting, management, communication, corporate finance, marketing, business policy, and entrepreneurship.
Dog Tag Bakery acts as an incubator for the fellowship program, providing Fellows with the unique opportunity to apply classroom learnings in a real-life small business. DTI provides experiential learning by enabling participants to gain first-hand experience in operations, staff management, product creation, customer service, finance, budgeting, business development, marketing, and more.
Professional Workshops: "Learning Labs"
A critical component of the program includes a series of workshops and lectures from entrepreneurs and business leaders. These "Learning Labs" are designed to give Fellows the opportunity to explore a wide-variety of civilian career paths and build the soft skills necessary for personal and professional success. Facilitators include seasoned entrepreneurs, non-profit leaders, and CEOs representing the full spectrum of private and public sector opportunities. They offer their perspective and open their networks to our Fellows, providing invaluable access to mentors.
Our program goes beyond education and job training to ensure Fellows are fully equipped to achieve their goals. Wellness is a cornerstone of our program. Our holistic, wellness-oriented approach–from mindfulness to journaling, nutrition to yoga–allows Fellows to be mentally ready to absorb the lessons and resources the program provides, and lays the groundwork for their successful transition into civilian life.
All Fellows receive a monthly stipend to help offset various costs associated with participating in the program. Fellows also receive a laptop for use during the program, and all tuition and books are covered under the fellowship so that participants do not need to use their GI Bill or related veteran benefits. In doing so, DTI seeks to alleviate any financial barriers to entry for Fellows.
